15 December 2014 - Hello, World

Welcome to the first post showcasing various Anarchy Minecraft servers!
This series will explore a number of Anarchy servers, from 2b2t clones to other possibly unknown servers.

The first server we are covering is constantiam.net which is often attributed as a 2b2t clone even though it was created before the 'clone era' post July 2016. The term 'clone' to describe Constantiam may be valid though, as the original 3b3t.net (which will also be featured post-mortem) was called a clone and it was around way back in 2014 when 2b2t went down for some time.

The Constantiam spawn - April 2017

Constantiam is generally played by a more mature regular community with the average age seemingly above 18. There are no gameplay rules.

Much like any Minecraft server these days, Constantiam has seen it's fair share of 'drama', from group base collapses to conspiracy theories and exploits. At this moment it all seems quiet, much like many servers due to school being back on and various other reasons.

Below you can see two excellent cinematic videos made by the player Dmonki. The first giving a good impression of the wasteland of spawn floating above a withered out cave that spans for hundreds if not thousands of meters. The second video gives you a look into the ruins of an old group base called Delphi which Dmonki was a part of.

- James
Greetings, KillerCapybara here. I’ve been playing on the server for quite a long time now and have never really made a name for myself. There are some players who everyone knows and loves, others who everyone knows and hates, and players like me who no one cared about but have been playing for just as long. After the Rusher incident, many more people became interested in the history of the server and people like James Rustles, Sato, and Fit wrote and made videos about things that happened on the server years and years before this swarm of newfags had even heard of 2b2t. Seeing some of these posts about or mentioning some of the things that I have participated in on the server made me realize just how much has been lost to time and forgotten. As cool and informative as Sato’s “The Groups of 2b2t” blogpost and Fit’s “2b2t: Tugboat Base” video are, there is some misinformation in there that I feel the need to correct.

The story begins in August 2011. My friends and I had been playing Minecraft together for awhile, experimenting with build challenges, adventure maps, and survival maps. While we had been enjoying the game, we were looking for something more to challenge ourselves and play with other people. One of my friends, zhode, had been browsing 4chan when he saw a post about 2b2t.net, a vanilla anarchy Minecraft server with no rules, mods, or admins. It looked perfect; a server that was challenging but still the same vanilla Minecraft experience.

zhode had warned us that the first thing we would see when we logged on would show us exactly what we were getting into. I was the first to log on with him and the first thing I saw was a giant, flaming netherrack swastika above my head and two guys in diamond armor flying above us engaged in PVP combat. That was when we knew we had found our server. Our gang consisted of zhode, serphantking12, _ironeagle_, and myself. Together we sought out to survive and thrive in the most hostile server out there.

The first base we set up was not too impressive and extremely close to spawn. We dubbed it our ‘700 Base’ as it was only 700 blocks away from spawn. This began our very uncreative naming scheme for all of our bases to come. It unsurprisingly did not last very long and we found ourselves moving even further away.

700 Base

Our next base was one we dubbed our ‘3000 Base.’ It was once again unimpressive but lasted us through September and part of October. Our base was only discovered once another person with the lack of knowledge to move further away from spawn moved in only a couple hundred blocks away. We packed up our limited supplies and decided to move even further away to a place where we felt safe.

3000 Base

In mid-October, we built our biggest base yet. The '8000 Base' was the one we put the most effort into. It wasn't anything amazing and in many ways is extremely confusing and poorly designed. But it was our home so we didn't care. It was an underground base with necessities such as a large central tree farm, animal pens, and chest room along with some goofy stuff like an art gallery, a strip club, and a church dedicated to a sheep that we heard had crashed the server (though I'm not sure if that ever actually happened).

8000 Base

Everything remained underground but eventually we constructed a cobblestone castle outside of our base. This was the only structure that would be above ground at the base for four years.

Castle at 8000 Base

We based together for awhile and eventually a bit of bickering began to bubble up in the group. After an incident involving me killing _ironeagle_ over some diamonds, we came to a consensus that we had to change some things to keep from falling apart. It was at this point we came up with a name for our group, the 'Fellowship of the Diamond.'

Fellowship of the Diamond origin story

After the '8000 Base', a multitude of other bases were created by the 'Fellowship'. A small town called 'Diamond Town' was created in November 2011 with a population of about 8 players. It's notable for being around at the same time as Boatmurdered and we conducted trade with Andrew_Gil at a small trading post in the nether. We created a skybase which we named 'Laputa' after a flying island in Gulliver's Travels. There was the '9x9 Base' which was made with a member of 'Diamond Town' that didn't last too long. All of those bases were griefed shortly after their creation and in January 2012, the '8000 Base' was finally griefed as well. We moved away to our last base, created in September 2012, on a Mushroom Biome. At this point, most of the original members had gotten bored and stopped playing and it was just zhode and I. In October 2012, we left the server and, aside from stopping by to check on some of the older bases in 2013, stopped playing completely.

In March 2015, I discovered James Rustles' 2b2t blog and began reading about all of the things that I had missed out on during my absence. Seeing the server thriving with all of these amazing bases and history inspired me to log in and play again. I managed to convince zhode to play again and brought a new friend, HyraxKing, to help restore the old '8000 Base'. HyaxKing was very productive and created many of the more prominent builds at the base today, such as the pagoda and the stone brick castle. I ended up building the stone brick tower and the tugboat (built in July 2015) that would go on to become synonymous with the base. Eventually, the base got raided and griefed once again and most of the members quit soon after. I moved out and started building a new base in March 2016.

The Tugboat

After FitMC made his video about the newly named 'Tugboat Base' in July 2016, I shared it with the older members and it inspired them to play again. We added a new member, KillerCommando29, and they came to the new base and helped to build our largest and most intricate one yet. Most of the members of the revitalized 'Fellowship of the Diamond' have since stopped playing and only occasionally come on to touch up their builds.

The 'Fellowship of the Diamond' has a long history on the server and has been mostly forgotten to time. A lot of the confusion about this group's history came from it's name. At the same time we were playing, another group began playing and called themselves the 'Brotherhood of the Diamond' and made themselves well known for helping people at spawn. Their name got spread around the server while ours didn't since we usually kept to ourselves. Over time, after our group had been long forgotten, people began to associate the two groups together and crediting the 'Brotherhood' with builds that had been built by the 'Fellowship'.

It's an easy to mistake to make and a funny coincidence that two different groups came up with such similar names at the same time. The build shown off in FitMC's second video, "The Mystery of the Brotherhood" was not constructed by us and features signs that seem to give a history of the 'Brotherhood of the Diamond'. We never associated or worked with them while we were playing.

I hope that clears up some misconceptions I've seen about our history. It's been great to see as much interest as there has been about the group and seeing some of our work be talked about to the extent that it has been is very flattering. The 'Fellowship of the Diamond' doesn't look to have much of a future on the server, but it's always possible that one day we shall return full-force to continue making our archaic builds and carrying on our old traditions.

The 4chan Period

The server  started around december of 2010. Its promised world without rules or boundaries was what attracted players from countless corners of the internet, but among those corners, the one that stands out its 4chan. The server started to gain a great amount of players as it started to be constantly spammed in 4chan boards such as /v/ and /b/. The 4chan community always was an unruly one, so it would only make sense for them to play on a server without rules.

Their arrival on 2b2t not only increased the player numbers but it also left a permanent cultural mark on the server. They were the first that tried to turn 2b2t into a server as offensive as possible, so they could keep away all the little kids that were playing (and continue to play) minecraft. The use of swastikas, for example, was brought by them. To offend and shock anyone who instantly logged in at spawn. The swastika is widely known as a symbol of hate and it was that hate that fueled the first months of the server. You can imagine that nothing creative or productive came out of what we used to call “The 4chan Period”. If you wander 2b2t long enough, you can still find many of these swastikas and ruined buildings around from that time. The use of words “newfag”,” oldfag” and even the greentext would be a 4chan inheritance that 2b2t still carries with pride.

The Forum Massacre Period

However 2b2t would suffer another impact from a new incoming group of players. They were known as “Facepunchers”. This name comes from the internet forum Facepunch, which they were users of. They first appeared in April of 2011, when a player called Chezhead decided that it would be a fun idea to rally the forum users and invite them to play all together on 2b2t and form a “republic” there with rules and jobs. Oh boy was he wrong.

The first invasion of outsiders on 2b2t was the prime example of stupidity and naivety. It ended horribly for them. They came in many numbers, adding even more players than the regular rates of 50-60. The server reached its peak with 80 to 90 players online. As soon as their presence was noted, they became the punch bag (irony here) of the “oldfags”. The entire community turned on them. They were being killed at spawn and every base they tried to make wouldn’t last a week. The 2b2ters were smarter than them, infiltrating in their forums and passing themselves as facepunchers, getting their coords to destroy them later. They were fighting an enemy that they couldn’t fight back. The griefers acted on their own. They had no group base and no organized actions, just a lot of determination to get coords and the use of the first hacked clients to show up in the game.

Chezhead would give up on the project just a few months later but others would take his place and try to save the remains of that mess. But even so, they continued to be massacred by the playerbase of the time until most of the facepunchers left or simply gave up on the idea of basing with their own kind. Most that stayed on the server decided it was best to abandon their former identification as facepunchers. The amount of facepunch fortresses and camps being advertised was so high in the forums, that even a dirt hut would claim to be one of them as an obvious joke. The Republic idea officially died in February 2012, ending the “Forum Massacre Period”.

The Great Server Decay

But even defeated, the presence of the forum and of the facepunchers would have a great impact in the server ways. Its forum became the most used 2b2t media, having dozens of post per day and a total of 7 threads, some with hundreds of pages. Thanks to this, Facepunch became the first way to actually record the events that happened in the server in those years.

After the chaos of the last two periods however, 2b2t entered in one of its most depressive and near-death states. It was thanks to a series of lag problems, map switching, ip change (.net to .org) and even a server downtime of 3 months that lowered the players of the server from 70 to mere 20. This happened because some players lost interest due to the problem or didn’t know about the ip change, so they thought the server closed forever. This period is marked by the increase in the numbers of group bases and decrease of greifings. All that heat from the first years was gone and 2b2t was cooling down to sum it up. Some of the most noted events of this time were:

* 2k2k becoming the last official facepunch base.
* Imperator’s base founding in April of 2012. (which wasn’t really noted at all since it was made in secrecy, its just important to mention)
* The End being re-enabled after player abuse.

It was also at this time that JudgeHolden and his friends were stranded in the millions (read the 2b2t comic), where it would eventually lead some of them to Imp's Base.

The First Valkyrian Period

The year of 2013 however re-energized the server near-death playerbase as something unusual was about to happen. The base crew of Anatolia and Hitlerwood would unite at a temp map to play together. They would found a new base when 2b2t returned called Valkyria, on April of 2013. This base would change the history of the server for the next years. Anatolia was composed by some fairly new players: Pyrobyte, Drewbookman and Sato86. While Hitlerwood was known as the last facepunch group base to stand. Members of it were Coldwave, Hinderjd, zach3397, KnightVista and others.

The base become quickly relevant for being the most active spot on the server at the time, holding ¼ of the regulars of that year, but the dupe that came in 1.4.7 is what gave the Valkyrians the power to  become to be reckoned with. They already were the largest group in the server history at that time. The well-armed members helped to stay safe as a group for the years to come. They adopted an eagle made of blocks as their symbol and branded themselves as guardians of 2b2t, attacking spawn whenever they felt like it or when an outside invasion was in course.

This scenario happened in august of 2013 when 2b2t was invaded thanks a video released by IGN, calling the server one of the 6 most amazing things in minecraft. This tribute made players rain in and angered oldfags because of the lag that they were bringing with them, but lag alone is just a useful excuse. Spawn killing is a long and strong tradition of 2b2t and one of the most common hobbies among old players. Then a invasion of redditors came right after that one, clashing with the incursion forces that were already at spawn, waiting for them.

Valkyria and its players would continue to make more bases over the years and resisting griefings and internal problems. With the new biomes update, a highly anticipated base was to be found called Asgard, but the project failed as the coordinates were leaked by the Thunderhack exploit on January 2014. This dealt a great blow to the already exhausted Valkyrians, making some of them leave or take a break from the server, ending the what is known as “First Valkyrian Period”

The Legion-Gape Interlude

The server and its players were quick to make other bases. Shortly after the first Gape base was founded near spawn and many players were invited to live there. Gape would be important to form some friendships between new players of that year. The Legion of Shenandoah also started to organize itself at this time. 3b3t server  appeared and was important as this moment since 2b2t faced another downtime due a severe lag spikes problem after a version update. Other than that, this quick period didn’t had other relevant events. Fenrir, a new base formed by valkyrians and players of different corners, would be founded in June of 2014, but the base only really kicked off in September.  The beginning of the construction of Fenrir would end the “Legion-Gape Interlude” and begin a new period with the valkyrias on the stage again.

The Second Valkyrian Period

The Second Valkyria Period would bring with several new bases such as Fenrir, Asgard II and Nova. The basemembers of this places would eventually become the new Valkyrians of 2015. They were known as Asgardians. A merge the Legion group and the Gape 2 base crew with what was left of the First Period made Asgard II happen, named after the first one that failed. A2 reached 30 players and its destruction 1 month later began the Third Incursion. It led most of these players to march to spawn and dominate it for a month.

There was no outside invasion at play at the time, it was purely an act of strength by the Asgardians. They baited many of the players that hated them to spawn and killed most, all that while building the most gigantic spawn base of the server history (so far).

The End of the Incursion also ends the last period of the Valkyrians on 2b2t. The eagle that once revived the server from a close death would give its last drop of sweat and rest in May of 2015. The symbol is still used on 2b2t as it represent unity and perseverance. Aureus was founded days after.

Pre-Hype Period

The history continues however as big scandals would hit the server weeks later. First was the “/a exploit “that allowed players to triangulate people’s coords, causing the destruction of several bases and more recently the backdoor leak which was proved that illegal administrative acts took/was taken place between 2015 and 2016. The whole drama started by the leak and the admin refusal or blindness, caused a big chunk of the regulars to leave 2b2t.

Today it is well known that Tristan, Taylo, Jared, Clyde and others were involved in using a OP’ed account named georgebush420, which belonged to Hausemaster. They had stole its access and were using it to destroy anyone who they didn’t like and spam superweapons and stashes for themselves. This situation would leave the 2b2t playerbase vulnerable, as many good players quit the server due the abuse, for the scenario we have presently, the biggest invasion the server ever faced.

But this invasion might not have happen if so many articles were not written about the server during this period. Motherboard and RPS wrote articles before the youtube mayhem on 2b2t. This is now just speculation, but they might have made possible for Napkin to find 2b2t and that way, Rusher as well.

This period was also one of the most destructive. Major bases were destroyed such as King’s Landing, Space Valkyria, Olympus and even the greater of them all… Imperator’s base. The only redeeming event about this time was that Project Vault began during this period, as a initiative to preserve the server’s history and beauty, with the participation of dozens. Months dedicated to travel around 2b2t and recover as many world downloads of bases as possible. The tide of destruction was countered by the most noble act ever done on 2b2t.

The Age of Hype

On the first day of June of 2016, the server’s history would take a rough turn into chaos thanks to a youtuber named TheCampingRusher. He had heard about 2b2t from his youtube “rival” NapkinOfTruth. After that, Rusher, a youtuber with more than 900.000 subscribers, decided to make a video on the server. The reaction was immediate. His video exploded with 1 million views. That of course brought a heavy impact on the server. Thousands of his fans tried to join to 2b2t as well to meet their idol. The success of his video “Oldest server in minecraft” (which is a lie) was so great at first that he started to do more videos. Meanwhile, the original community of 2b2t was unable to play, drowning in the thousands he brought with him.
“The 2b2t Dilemma of 2016, this massive influx of the lot of you new players caused a lot of interesting changes to this community. 2b2t had a very unique community culture, and it started to have a very formulaic passing of time in the way bases rose and fall up until now. The biggest problem is all of us, who are part of the old culture of 2b2t, are now outnumbered about 1:4 to the new players. This means our way of life on 2b2t is diluted extremely. The culture, societies, and the systems of which are the foundations of what made 2b2t unique and special are threatened. Those of you who are new to the server, but claim to not be "Rusherfags" and you claim you hate the kids, and want to help the "veterans". You are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. “
- xarviar about the Rusher Invasion.
The situation was so dire that not even Rusher himself could log on. The server kept crashing constantly. You had to spam click the reconnect button or have a client with auto-reconnect to have any hopes to join. Sometimes not even that was enough. The server was limited to 200 players. For this reason, the youtuber attempted to buy 2b2t so he could log whenever he wanted. Rusher had found his gold mine and he tried to bargain for it. Hausemaster, the owner of the server however refused his offer.

Rusher then attempted to buy a priority access from Hause. This offer was also refused as the owner saw that the old players of the server, the ones that made 2b2t what it is, were being unable to play because of his fans. To solve this, they agreed in making a queue system, using a server Rusher would host and the veterans would have priority over it. All accounts that had logged on 2b2t before 1st June of 2016 would have quicker access. The server hardware also had to be upgraded to sustain the new player numbers. Rusher also agreed to pay for it.

This made the number of old players on the server to jump from 5 online to 50 or more. The 2b2t community was back in control thanks to Hausemaster.

This also made possible the rise of a new incursion. Before the priority queue, they were already a few brave( and patient) players at spawn, killing new players. Some of their names were Fit, Babbaj, Jared2013, Legato, etc. They were the first to oppose this new invasion from youtube. At the same time, Fit would grow popular by making videos of him killing “Rushers”.

This would eventually lead to a conflict between the new and the old. At first, it began with the Teamveteran initiative. It was designed to appeal the new players into helping the community at spawn, but it was made for the new map spawn, when 2b2t oldmap was brought down for a few weeks. In this new world, the oldfags were slowly losing ground to Rusher’s fans. Fit released a video calling all old and new players to join his front to fight back the invasion. In order to join, you would have to be a lone wolf and craft a banner.

2 days later, the old map returned and the oldfags had their dupe stashes and resources at disposal again. They no longer needed newfags to help them to control spawn. It was then decided that Teamveteran would continue as a mean to split the Rusher fanbase in two and weaken them even more. The newcomers would sabotage and kill each other over one banner or the other as the oldfags would kill anyone without discrimination, even if they were carrying the black banner of the vets. The biggest ruse in 2b2t history was at play.

Since it was a ruse, appearances needed to be kept. Fit continued to make videos about teamveteran and the “war” continued to storm spawn. Day after day, many new players, regarding of side would meet the same fate as soon as they arrived. This ruse prevented a unified and strong front of Rushers to form, since they couldn’t trust each other anymore. With the dupe that was about to come, this could have been deadly for the spawn occupation. Factions like The Resistance managed to bring a considerable challenge to the oldfags with only 5-6 people.  Without teamveteran’s ideology splitting forces and spreading untrust, they might have managed to amass 10 or 20. It would be a force to rival any incursion or occupation, especially with fresh duped items.

The inconvenience is that many of the old players didn’t know about what was happening in the background and they openly opposed Fit for working with new players, accusing him of trying milk money off 2b2t. His channel popularity and growth was a consequence of the ruse, but they did not understand that and couldn’t know the truth. Fit accepted the hits and critics for the best of 2b2t.

This however was not a problem, since old players would kill all people using a veteran shield, which was the main idea in the first place. So even the people that hated Fit were doing exactly what he wanted.. This would keep going for a few weeks more until the 4th incursion was declared. Unlike the last 3 for, this incursion was to be more open and less planned. The members would go to spawn and improvise. The goal here was to deal hard blows on the new players and their recent formed factions in 2b2t, such as Resistance, Peacekeepers, etc.

If 2b2t had declared a 4th incursion since the very beginning without teamveteran taken place before, an obvious front of Rushers would form to fight it back. They would resist and get better equipment (with the dupe). They would work together and have greater numbers. Teamveteran divided them and made easier to conquer and fight them. The first time psychological warfare was used on 2b2t.
A great job was done too by Offtopia, who planted spies in these factions. When the dupe happened in July, their stashes wouldn’t last long. In a matter of weeks, the resistance saw two stashes gone and the Peacekeepers lost one as well. The 4th incursion began to fully occupy spawn and wait for the factions to arrive and gank them (a tactic they were using against oldfags). This happened on the 28th of July 2016, when 5 new players faced 14 old players in combat. The biggest battle 2b2t had ever since its creation.

Weeks later, the 4th incursion would end due the internal conflicts that resulted in the destruction of 2 bases. However no amount of resource was lost on their part. The bases were for resting, repairing and food. The use of end crystals and bed bombing intensified after this, making spawn and nether a dangerous zone for anyone, no matter what armor they were using. This discouraged the continuation of the incursion even more, as some members were already exploded by this tactic. All the small factions retreated from spawn in order to save resources.

Seeing this, the 4th Reich, a new faction that opposed the Rushers and sympathized with the original community, began to stay at spawn with naked alts to explode people, along with other players applying the same tactic, disputing space with them and blowing each other up.

Even if 2b2t was at player peak, the spawn became a desert.

By this time, the interest on 2b2t began to die out in both Rusher and Fit’s channel. The “war” veil was starting to fall and the ugly and deceiving face of 2b2t finally came to light. New players realized that there are no sides. Rusher also couldn’t record his videos as often since the use of massive lag machines was made by the factions Vortex Coalition and 4th Reich against all youtubers. The former members of the incursion, at a base called Medina were also using one. Maybe more people and other smaller groups did the same. The server TPS, which was mostly stable before, started to drop dramatically, sometimes even crashing the server.

This contributed for the youtubers to leave. As of today, only Fit (which was already a 2b2t player before all of this) and NedaT remain from the mayhem that the hype brought.

Things were shaken again by the discovery of maybe the biggest dupe exploit in history. This rearmed the oldfags and armed the new players and their factions. And this despite the fact that some of them were destroyed by a backdoored client leak, there are still many out there, ready to use in a future base, event or incursion. One thing is for sure, the peaceful era that Hinderjd spoke of in 2013, ended in 1st June of 2016.

Conclusion

Wew, I had to write almost 3 pages just to describe these last crazy months. In summary, youtube changed 2b2t, but in the end, 2b2t will always be 2b2t. No outside force can break it or bend its ways. We are what we are. The worst server in minecraft history.

This is also the first time that the purpose of teamveteran is officially revealed. Fit, you put yourself on the fire for us, even those that shunned you. You helped us to tame an invasion of enormous proportions.and secure the community place as dominant despite the unbelievable odds and numbers. It was about time for people to know the truth.

If you are reading this, and you are a youtuber who wants to make a series (or even a article writer), know that you are not welcome here and you and your channel will be hostilized. This is not a threat from me. It’s just the way things are here. We don’t like people who think that can make money out of us and our way to be, so be warned.

“This server has never been for the faint of heart. It has nothing to do with its age, the state of its spawn or lack of moderation. It has everything to do with the type of people here. The ones that keep coming back. We would like to be left alone, and what little company we do find, we tend to find in people as strange as us. This server is no place for youtubers looking to make a quick buck. The ones that have featured this place on videos, have done their audience a disservice. I wouldn’t wish this place on anybody. To make it perfectly clear, there is no war. There is no wind condition.. It has been and always will be a matter of time. Those who do not belong here will eventually fade away and forget this place ever existed. Those who stay will have always belonged here and they will never truly leave”

Nothing lasts forever, and this has never been more true than in the case of 2b2t’s many great cities. The end for Avalon began with the expansion of 2b2t’s nether highways. At the time of Avalon’s creation, it was two a hundred thousand block walk after exiting the nether. By the Summer of 2015, you could ride the nether highway to Avalon’s doorstep.

But with exposure came many friends and visitors who were able to enjoy sights rarely seen elsewhere on 2b2t. Avalon Air was launched in May of 2015, and passengers took turns riding Avalon’s slimeblock airplanes from Avalon’s airport tower to various landing pads outside the city.

Guests could come visit the Avalon Potion Shop, complete with its own witch ready to provide you with the brew of your choice, or a splash potion if you got too close. Others could walk through Avalon’s expansive lawns and take in monuments to the three original incursions of 2b2t.

Avalon’s new library and museum offered a place to take in some of 2b2t’s great history. Various artifacts and books were stored there (including Part 1 of this very documentary series). Those walking through the library’s towering pillars would find themselves surrounded by iron golums while they took in stained glass art and various maps of the city. A mezzanine was also available for those who wanted a better view.

A number of great veteran players were invited to Avalon in it’s third year, and built guest houses along the South Road of the city. They were joined by already existing structures such as the Pigman Condos and various other homes, complete with swimming pools, fireplaces, chimneys, and music boxes. It was easy to forget that you were still very much part of an anarchy server.

Of course one of my favorite aspects of the city was its magnificent views. Whether looking out over castle walls, standing on the edge of ocean marinas, or riding carts along over ten thousand blocks of powered rail, there was never a shortage of sights to be seen.

Avalon’s dungeons and zoos continued to take in more unusual mobs. The final additions came in the form of Avalon’s East and West Aquariums. Three elder guardians were transported to the city, along with many more guardians. While safe from lasers and thorns, visitors still found themselves cursed with the effects of mining fatigue if they came too close to the larger guardians. Most agreed it was still worth the close up look at these mobs, who would coldly stare back from their glass tanks.

The suburbs of Avalon continued to grow, extending from the ocean onto far away land where the Tower of Avalon was ultimately built. The Tower was home to saddled pigs who could be raced around the expansive ramparts. Within the castle itself were additional villager condos, complementing those near Avalon Castle, and offering greater trading opportunities.

With suburbs came new marinas, ultimately making Avalon truly accessible by road, water, and air in all directions. Despite its size, it remained easy to navigate, and it continued to maintain ties with satellite bases in every possible biome.

Avalon expanded into the nether, with various bases. These had their own gardens, potion rooms, and pet mobs ranging from wither skeleton to blaze. Cattle and other animals were transported to the nether as well, making these satellite bases fully functional.

In late December 2015, almost three years after its creation, Avalon was griefed for the first time. A minor player leaked coords (before being encased in obsidian and slaughtered), but he was followed by griefers who took it upon themselves to attack this haven. Avalon’s size didn’t permit this to happen overnight, and in subsequent months Avalon was repaired and destroyed, with various battles along the way. By the Spring of 2016, most of the city was left in ruins.

The Rusher/Veteran war which began in the Summer of 2016 only added to the damage. The City of Peace, meant to be a neutral haven for all weary travelers, was assumed by new YouTube followers to be a ‘vet’ base that should be attacked. Little was accomplished apart from the griefing of already abandoned ruins. Other new players to their credit tried to restore parts of the base to a limited degree, but the city was long gone. In the end, Avalon joined the other great ruins of 2b2t, but with its own unique personality. Iron golums still continue to walk along the ocean floor. Tagged bats can still be found in jungle trees. You may very well run into guardians or elder guardians, far away from any ocean monument (as all were let go before they were destroyed). A number of structures still exist as well, as do secret satellites, stores, and treasures.

To those with access, the undamaged Avalon has been safely downloaded and preserved with the other great cities of 2b2t. It is ironic that the oldest server in Minecraft, famous for its anarchy and survival gameplay, has created some of the most beautiful and intricate builds of any server. But then that is part of the fun of 2b2t. It is the ability to create elaborate and often epic cities that could be destroyed at any time, that makes them all the more special. It is the chance of coming across great ruins and wondering how they must have looked in their prime that makes 2b2t an adventure. It is friendship and trust, loyalty and betrayal, and history, both good and bad, that makes 2b2t so truly unique. And some may argue that it is the temporary nature of builds, like life itself, that makes them all the more precious.

2b2t will continue to evolve, and its great cities will continue to transform into new ones. And for those who are willing to travel millions past the ruins of Avalon, you may find me again. The weary traveler who stumbles across New Avalon will always find safety, a place to rest, and any treasure they might desire. The City of Peace welcomes you.

Like the majority of the new players on 2b2t, I ran across
TheCampingRusher's video advertising "the oldest server in
Minecraft." Having played the game for many years, and accomplished essentially
everything in singleplayer, my interest was piqued at this new
challenge.

When I first logged in, I was astonished at what I found. Monstrous
towers of cobblestone overwhelming spawn. Obsidian highways that
stretched seemingly forever into the distance. A wasteland where
food was next to impossible to obtain. It was such an incredible sight that no description could ever capture its full chaotic glory.

On my first three attempts to escape spawn, I foolishly believed the highway was the ideal route to travel. After starving to death each time, I did my research and came across this blog.

Meanwhile, tensions were already building between the veterans of the server and the waves of new players flooding the server. Work began on a curtain of lava built to surround spawn, intended to prevent any new player from escaping. I knew that if I wanted to make my mark on 2b2t, I would have to make my escape soon.

Several days later, after 2b2t was transferred to a new server, I made my move. I headed out of spawn, careful to avoid the veteran players who were stationed with the sole purpose of annihilating anyone new who dared set foot on their sacred ground. Using nothing but my wits and a boat, I traveled several thousand blocks before happening across a small underground melon farm. I stayed there for several hours, mining until I'd acquired full diamond armor and enough food to last me weeks. As I began to travel through the nether, I ran across the corpse of a player containing enchanted gear. It was this gear that allowed me to venture out even further after my melon supply dwindled.

It was at this point I invited a good friend by the name of ElishevaLight to the server. We'd worked together on several big projects in the past, and I knew that this would be a quest too good to refuse. The plan at the time was simply to travel far enough away from spawn to set up a permanent base, and leave a lasting mark on the server. ElishevaLight escaped spawn without much trouble, and after raiding a base we happened upon, we set up the first of many small camps where we could mine, enchant, and establish ourselves as powerful players.

It was around this time, however, when one of the server's famous monuments, the Valley of Wheat, was griefed by a group of new players. This made both ElishevaLight and myself question the newer players on the server. Although TheCampingRusher had repeatedly stated in his video that he was "not here to grief," it appeared that this wasn't the case for the majority of new players.

After further research, discussion, and simply thinking, ElishevaLight and I decided to ally ourselves to the veterans. The destruction of the Valley of Wheat was a turning point for many other new players as well. Those of us who were smart enough and skilled enough to pull our own weight began to realize that if every new player was given the opportunity to establish themselves, then much of the server's rich history would be destroyed. Although I don't yet sit at spawn killing newer players who arrive, I'm a firm believer that nobody on 2b2t deserves handouts. Anyone who wants to play should stand the trials of spawn by themselves or die trying.

ElishevaLight and I plan to stay on 2b2t for a long time, and establish ourselves as true veterans eventually. We hope to not only construct our own massive bases and cities, but also restore pieces of the server's history that have been recently destroyed by the flood of new players.

If you're new, I hope to see you out there. The server is truly an amazing place, and as I've heard it described, "the ultimate gaming experience." I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you plan to preserve and respect the server's history as I have.

Because if you don't, I'll have to kill you.
THE BEGINNING

I UBERLUGCAKE JOINED THE SERVER IN THE LATE 2013S AND TREKKED AROUND SPAWN GATHERING FOLLOWERS. I WAS FILLED WITH CONTEMPTMENT AS I OBSERVED THE LANDSCAPE AROUND ME. "HOW COULD ANYONE LET THE SPAWN FALL INTO SUCH DISREPAIR" I THOUGHT TO MYSELF. I SHOOK MY HEAD AND SHOOK MY HEAD UNTIL IT WOULD NOT SHAKE ANY LONGER AND I REALIZED I HAD TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I ESCAPED SPAWN THAT VERY LIFE WITHOUT DYING IN THE TURMOIL OF SPAWN AGAIN. I ESCAPED AND CREATED THE FIRST UBER BASE™.

AT THIS BASE I ESTABLISHED THE MANTRA DEDICATION MOTIVATION ACCELERATION AS WELL AS RECRUITING TEAM UBERSLUGCAKE™ MEMBERS. AS THE GROUP GREW MY TRUST OF THE NEW RECRUITS GREW AS WELL WE WERE A FORMIDABLE CREW AND COULD NOT BE STOPPED. I RECRUITED ONLY NEWFAGS AS THEY HAD THE SAME GOALS AS I, TO RETURN SPAWN TO ITS PAST GLORY. I HAD HEARD OF WHEN THE SERVER FIRST BEGAN AND ALL OF 2B2T LIVED AT SPAWN TOGETHER IN ONE BIG PEACEFUL COMMUNITY AND I WANTED IT TO RETURN TO ITS GLORY DAYS. I SENT MY RECRUITS OFF TO ESTABLISH UBER BASES™ OF THEIR OWN.

THE EXPANSION

I UBERSLUGCAKE GATHERED MY THINGS FROM THE ORIGINAL UBER BASE™ AND HEADED INTO THE NETHER HIGHWAY TO ESTABLISH THE MOST PERMANENT OF UBER BASES™. I KNEW THAT I HAD TO ESTABLISH A STRONG STABLE BASE OUT IN THE HIGH COORD REGION SO THE TEAM WOULD HAVE SOME KIND OF FOOTING TO REBUILD SPAWN. WHILE MY MEN GATHERED RESOURCES AT THE UBER BASES™ NEAR SPAWN PREPARING FOR THE REBUILD THAT WAS SO FAR AT THIS POINT I VENTURED FAR INTO THE HEART OF 2B2T NOT KNOWING WHAT TO EXPECT. IN THIS PERIOD THERE WAS ANY WHERE FROM 10-15 NEWFAG RECRUITS OUT BUILDING BASES.

THE SETTELING

I UBERSLUGCAKE FINALLY HAD ARRIVED AT THE COORDS THAT I FELT WERE APPROPRIATE TO SET UP THE OFFICIAL UBER BASE™. THIS BASE WOULD BE THE MAIN HUB OF ALL UBER BASES™ ON 2B2T AND WHERE ALL OF THE POWER WOULD BE HELD I HAD TO BUILD IT WITH MEANING AND WITH PRIDE. ALL OF MY RECRUITS WERE FILLED WITH DEDICATION MOTIVATION ACCELERATION AS WE PREPARED FOR THE REBUILD SHOUTING OUT TO THE WORLD "DEDICATION MOTIVATION ACCELERATION" THERE WOULD BE THOSE WHO DEFIED US BUT WE KNEW WE WOULD PREVAIL. NO OLDFAGS ON THE SERVER WOULD BELIEVE WHAT WE HAD ACCOMPLISHED AT THE TIME BUT THAT DIDN'T MATTER TO US NO WE HAD EACH OTHER AND KNEW WE WOULD PREVAIL.

THE REBUILD

I UBERSLUGCAKE AND MY RECRUITS HAD EVERYTHING READY WE WERE GOING TO REBUILD SPAWN AND ALL WE NEEDED WAS DEDICATION MOTIVATION ACCELERATION. WE WERE ON OUR WAY TO SPAWN WITH ALL OF OUR RESOURCES AND WE REBUILT FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS BUILDING MELLON FARMS AND DESTROYING LAVA CASTS. NOTHING COULD STOP US WE WERE THE PERFECT TEAM™. WE REBUILT SPAWN AS BEST WE COULD FOR AS LONG AS WE COULD BUT LITTLE DID WE KNOW THAT OUR REBUILD WAS ABOUT TO END A LOT SOONER THAN WE HAD HOPED.

THE END

I UBERSLUGCAKE BECAME INCREASINGLY WORRIED APPROACHING APRIL 2016 THINGS DID NOT ADD UP ON THE SERVER ANYMORE. IT SEEMED THE SPIRIT OF HAUSEMASTER AS WE KNEW HIM AT LEFT COMPLETELY. I BEGAN CONSULTING WITH THE OLDFAG I KNEW ON THE SERVER AND HAD DISCOVERED A HORRIBLE SECRET THE SERVER HAD BEEN BACKDOORED HARD. I KNEW I HAD TO DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS IT WAS THE TEAM UBERSLUGCAKE™ WAY BUT BEFORE I KNEW IT ALL OF OUR BASES HAD BEEN DESTROYED AND WERE NO MORE. THE BACKDOOR CREW™ HAD FOUND ALL OF OUR COORDS THROUGH THE EXPLOITS AND DESTROYED THEM IN OUR SLEEP. WE HAD NO WHERE ELSE TO TURN SO WE HAD TO LEAVE 2B2T FOREVER AND HOPE THAT ONE DAY SOMEONE WOULD DEFEAT THE BACKDOOR CREW™ SO WE COULD RETURN TO OUR BELOVED HOME IN PEACE ONE DAY.

The following Guest Post is a listing of many if not most of groups that have played on 2b2t over the years. Some groups are unknown or secretive and so have not been included.

The Brotherhood of Diamond

Year: 2011-2012
Base: Many small outposts, being the last one called Tugboat
Status: Disbanded
Numbers: Unknown

The brotherhood is without doubt one of the oldest groups of 2b2t. It was described in Judge Holden’s comic and it also had known activities around spawn, recruiting members there and providing them with diamonds. The Brotherhood however suffered several base sabotages, making the group disband over time. There is little information about them since all the members left years ago. Their last known stand is a place called Tugboat base which was recently repaired in 2014 by other players. The place has several underground rooms and farms. Also a lot of strip-mining deep underground.

The Judge’s Group

Year: 2011-2012
Base: Oldtown/Shitpit City/Ravenholm/1mil Town/Jungle Platform City/Oldcity and many more.
Status: Disbanded
Numbers: ~15

One of the most known groups of 2b2t. Also the pioneers of group bases. The Judge Group started when offtopia and THEJudgeHolden started to save newfags from spawn and leading them to their new base called Oldtown. Then Oldtown was attacked and a desperate race started to get as far as possible from spawn and escape the hackers and griefers back in chaos that was 2b2t in 2012. They were one of the very first large groups to make it to 1mil and build a foothold there. Their epic saga is told in the 2b2t comics made by Judge Holden.

Facepunch Republics

Year: 2011-2012 (with some ripples in 2013)
Base: Several bases, camps and outposts. Hitlerwood and Fort Avril were the last.
Status: Disbanded
Numbers: Unknown (Too many bases and also too spread to know)

They don’t need presentation. Facepunch came to 2b2t to play and create cities where their forum members could build and bring a bit of order among the tides of anarchy. Their initiate failed horribly as their actions were seen as an insult to the whole server, beginning a hunt for facepunchers on the server. Their forum was still essential to 2b2t to server as a media and a memory book of the server.

Imperator’s group

Year: 2012-????
Base: Viking Base (aka Imp Base)
Status: Unknown.
Numbers: ~10

Might not be the biggest group, but certainly the one with most impressive art work of 2b2t history. Imp Base group was composed partly of Imperator’s friends and Judge’s friends. With time, other people joined the group (also thanks to several dupe glitches that allowed them to have great resources to build). Their base commonly known as “Imps” is still the largest and most beautiful base of 2b2t. It was griefed on 25th December of 2015, but the group already only had a couple people still playing.

Valkyria Legacy

Year: 2013-2015
Base: Valkyria/Rhadamantis/Asgard I/Valhalla/Nova/Fenrir/Asgard II
Status: Disbanded
Numbers: ~70

They had many names. Valk group, Valkyrians, Asgardians, Incursion group. In the end, they are all the same thing. The Legacy of Valkyria stands out as the biggest and most powerful group that 2b2t had to this date. They are marked by having intimidating numbers and fully armed for pvp members as well as great builders/redstoners in their side. They dominated spawn for months in two occasions and built several of the biggest and most populated bases of the server. If you find an obsidian eagle somewhere, that means they were there. Valkyria group was basically a merging of small groups such as The Black Flag Group, Hitlerwood Basegroup, Legion of Shenandoah and Gape Basegroup.

Legion of Shenandoah

Year: 2013-????
Base: Mjolnir/Sleepy Hollow/Shenandoah/Asgard II
Status: Inactive
Numbers ~6

Formed after the chaos left by the second incursion, some of its core members served in the event. They would later meet with other players to form the Legion of Shenandoah. They built bases and acted inspired by the Valkyrians. Their admiration later led to a union between what was left of Fenrir/Nova and their group, making Asgard II happen. The two groups however didn’t totally merge. The Legion agreed to help the “eagle” and follow it to the Third Incursion but still keeping their independence. Their symbol is a Dragon with open wings, similar to the eagle and their banner is a single diagonal string of green separating red and blue sides.

Team Sun

Year: 2014
Base: Unknown
Status: Disbanded
Numbers: ~7

Fairly unknown by most, the Team Sun started in another server when ibiq and his coworkers started a server with the purpose to bully minecraft kids. From his server, he recruited some players to Team Sun such as balonypony, coconut4, Vishburn and Jazukai - who later betrayed ibiq and stole his team as theirs. After the server closed down, they became regulars on 2b2t who then built, killed and shitposted in chat.

Team Uberslugcake

Year: 2015-2016
Base: Spawn bases (Uber Bases)
Status: Active
Numbers: Unknown

Despite the annoying moto “DEDICATION MOTIVATION ACCELERATION”, Team Uberslugcake has been in action for over a year, claiming that it is putting spawn in good shape and inviting new players to join them. They offer food in exchange for helping them with “repairing spawn”. Some sources says they have several followers. But no numbers are confirmed.

Vortex Coalition

Year: 2015-2016
Base: Unknown
Status: Active
Numbers: Unknown (Coltsnid and AmericanOreo are the only known members. Yes, that’s right)

Commonly known as being a try-hard pseudo-group. Usually groups on 2b2t gain reputation by building things and achieving great acts and bases. VoCo, however, started by advertising themselves first before actually doing something useful. They annoyingly spammed messages on chat about their own group, messages composed of things they never done. It’s actually hard to know if they can be considered a group at all of just a band of two retards. Either way, their mention is necessary to clarify the public. They are widely hated by the oldfags of 2b2t and are trying to use the Rushers invasion to gain reputation and prestige by fighting the invaders… That until they declared themselves neutral.

Teamveteran

Year: 2016
Base: None
Status: Active
Numbers: Unknown

Teamvet doesn’t really match the description of a group, since it has no official member numbers, no base and barely any communication between them. Teamveteran, started by Fit, is a community initiative rather than a group. It’s a movement of players dedicated to end the Rusher invasion and sabotage their attempts to stay on 2b2t as a whole. Their members are taught to act on their own and expect no orders or help. It’s a groups of lone-wolf newcomers that form a network of information and assistance to the playerbase of 2b2t to make the Rushers life a living hell, therefore representing paramount importance to the war/hunt effort. As far as we know, their numbers can surpass the hundreds.

Well, readers, the time has come for me to thank you all for following the blog. But unfortunately the time has also come for me to move on from 2b2t.

Let me say firstly, the blog will not be going anywhere. The blog in its entirety will stay online and guest posts will still be accepted to the email in the bottom left of each page.

I had been thinking of leaving for a little while as my interest in the server had greatly decreased as time went on. Then when the server had it's latest 'drama' in which the very administration was bought into question, I - along with many others - decided this was the time to say farewell.

And so on Sunday the 24th of April 2016, my journey on 2b2t came to an end after I submitted this Reddit post.

I have had many adventures and good times on 2b2t over the years and met some fantastic people. Even to this day, the people who I based with during the 2014 Temp Map over 2 years ago are still in contact and friends, with many more joining us too.

2b2t is the most notorious Minecraft server in my opinion and as long as game-play remains as vanilla as possible, it will stay that way.

So this is it readers, James signing off The 2b2t Blog for the last time.

All the best,
James_Rustles

Jun 16th Edit:

Although I said I would not be posting any more posts and just leave it open to guest posts, I do have a few Journal posts still half finished. So what I will do is finish those Journal posts and see where we are afterwards.

If any of you newer players want to write about your experience from the eyes of a newfag, please feel free to email in.
